As our first seasonal beer, and the brew to kick off a barrel-aged limited edition season series for our brewery, our new Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale brought forth a lot of excitement at the Fest-of-Ales craft beer festival in Lexington recently. Half an hour before we were scheduled to tap the pumpkin ale, jostling fans at the crowded beerfest designated a line for those waiting for our pumpkin ale to be tapped at 7:30 pm. Once tapped, the beer was gone in less than an hour as enthusiasts quickly drained samples of the unique barrel-aged seasonal.
The beer continues to roll out across the Commonwealth, and soon to other states. Our Ohio distributor has already received several queries wondering when it will be available in their state. We are so appreciative of all of our patient fans as we work to get this new brew out to everyone and to follow it up with another great barrel-aged seasonal, possibly in the spring!
For those who may have missed the memo, Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale is a barrel-aged ale brewed with Kentucky-sourced pumpkin, spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. As the ale is aged in fresh bourbon barrels, the sweetness of caramel and vanilla are imparted upon the brew and complement its spicier base. At 10 percent alcohol by volume (ABV), it’s a robust sipping brew perfect for the fall season. We hope you get to try it! For our Louisville fans waiting on it, a few kegs will be available during Louisville Craft Beer Week at BoomBozz Highlands Taphouse , The Monkey Wrench, Haymarket Whiskey Bar, LIBA Brewfest, and the Downtown Marriott.
