Tailgate Recipe Series #2: KBBA Ribs!

You won’t regret making these delicious KBBA ribs going for your tailgate party – you will become everyone’s best friend!

A beautiful summer-almost-fall weekend is here, as well as the always highly anticipated     UK-U of L game! When you gather your crowd of trash-talking friends, you’ll not only need plenty of Kentucky Ale beers, but also some delicious food to nosh on. This week in our Tailgating Recipe Series, we bring you a wonderful ribs recipe that uses our Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale from The Kentucky Proud Kitchen’s Brigitte Nguyen.

Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Baby Back Oven Ribs

Rib Rub:

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp onion salt
  • 1 tbsp bourbon smoked salt

  • ½ cup bourbon barrel ale
  • ½ cup steak sauce
  • 2 tbsp sorghum or brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • Pinch salt

Mix the ingredients for the rib rub together and sprinkle liberally onto the entire rib rack.  Save any remaining rub for future use.  Envelope the ribs in foil, place on a baking sheet, and bake at 300 degrees for about 2 hours, until tender.

To make the sauce, combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan and simmer over low heat to reduce and thicken, about 10 minutes.  Once the ribs are tender, peel back the foil to expose the ribs, brush the surface with the sauce and broil for 2-3 minutes to brown and caramelize the ribs, watching closely to prevent burning.

If you’re going to cook with it, you might as well drink a delicious cold one as well! Beer and bourbon = delicious
